German DHL Group DHL DHL said today that it has offered jobs for more than 30,000 refugees over the past ten years since the 2015 refugee wave, making it one of the largest employers all over the world.
Many current employees from the main origin of refugees – SYRIA, Afghanistan and Ukraine – have taken jobs in the logistical labor market, including permanent employment contracts, internal training and industrial discipline.
According to DHL, these workers work primarily in delivering or sorting messages and parcels, which are positions characterized by a large number of low -level jobs. After getting these opportunities, some have now found job opportunities in the professions for which they were trained, while many others managed to develop their career within the DHL group.
“Empowering refugees who have work permits to quickly enter the labor market is not only a prerequisite for social integration, but also in the interest of the German economy, as it can reduce the burden on social systems and mitigate the effects of demographic change,” said Thomas Oclifi, chief human resource employee and work manager at the DHL group. “So we are proud to advance the road in this field and have offered more refugees in Germany to enter the labor market more than any other company in Germany.”
In addition to receiving this support for companies, the initiative is also driven by many 600,000 DHL employees worldwide, with about 18,000 employees volunteering their time in integration roles such as translators, mentors or a local support provider such as helping people finding the residence.
DHL even offers an additional batch in language courses and training by providing its language learning application, which allows users to learn vocabulary from a professional context and simulate conversation situations, such as customer interactions.
