The value of up to 78 LRVS may be 391 million euros.
The latest additions to the GVB Light Rail fleet are CAF URBOS 100 LRVS.
Amsterdam Municipal Transport (GVB) has invited manufacturers to provide bids for a contract worth 391 million euros to provide low -floor low -floor LRVS, which will be requested to replace part of the current fleet and provide an additional capacity on the city’s light rail network.
The new tender comes shortly after the Vervoerreregio Amesterdam GVB transmission is a new 11 -year concession to operate the city’s public transport network. The Authority implements the strategy of renewing the partial fleet, as submitting one large request to replace the entire LRV fleet will be costly.
It also reduces the risk of disrupting the service if the new LRVS fails to perform as expected, and enables power to respond more flexible to the demand in the future.
The new LRVS should be 30 meters, allowing to occupy two LRV at the same time that stops 60 meters long on the bridges of the humpback on the channels in the historical center of Amsterdam. They should also be able to work on the entire network, including on RotersStraat where the alignment on the LRV canal bridge is imposed on the move horizontally and vertically at the same time.
The contract also includes providing spare parts, adjusting and equipping warehouses to keep the new fleet, and training employees. The new LRVS should enter the service in 2032.
Amsterdam’s light railway fleet is arranged from 72 low -floor of CAF URBOS 100 LRVS. The contract guarantees an option for 51 LRVS, but Vervoerreregio Amsterdam did not choose his practice.
Besides the new LRVS request, the coach of GVB, Paul Carrests, says the operator will focus on extending the practical age of his current fleet through the implementation of a specialized maintenance system. GVB also explores a small independent rule, and looks forward to helping instead of replacing its drivers.
