The revival of the American truck shipping market sees the strongest growth in 3 years

The besieged American truck shipping market showed signs of recovery in the second quarter of 2025, as national charging volumes increased by 2.4 % and spending by 1.2 % of the previous quarter, according to the last shipping payment index in the United States.

This represents the first profit from a quarter to a quarter in each of the standards in three years. All five American regions have published serial size gains, led by 6.7 % in the southwest.

“While the national standards of the year throughout the year are still low, the serial growth for the second quarter in both shipments and spending is a welcome transformation after years of contraction,” Bobby Holland, director of the shipping company in the field of shipping works, said in a statement. “However, with all fluctuations related to the tariff that is likely to affect truck transport activity, it is too early to determine whether the market has turned the angle.”

In fact, the wide comparison showed that compared to the second quarter of 2024, national shipments decreased by 9.8 % and spending decreased by 4.9 %, although the decrease in shipments on an annual basis was the smallest since Q3 2023.

“With the lack of main shipping drivers such as manufacturing, housing and port activity, the fourth quarterly gains are encouraging,” said Bob Costello, First Vice President and Economist in American truck transport societies. “There are signs that the industry has started to balance, even if the next road remains rugged.”

The shipping payment index in the United States measures quantitative changes in shipping shipments and spending activity based on data from the transactions that have been processed through the shipping payment platform in the United States, which process $ 43 billion of shipping payments annually for shipping and transport companies throughout the United States
