Argentina is twice the capacity of the main shipping corridor

A tender for the renovation of the path is issued for a 56 -km department of Urquiza’s general lane.

The Argentine government has released the latest in a series of tenders to upgrade the general corridor of Urquiza. The 1435 mm scale line north extends from Buenos Aires, which serves Entre Ríos, Corrientes and Meneses, and it also connects the rail network in Argentina with Uruguay and Paraguay.

The invitation to bids is part of the multi -stage investment program that is involved in its financing by the FOCEM Fund in the South American market (MERCOSUR) and the shipping of Argentine trains (TAC). The process is open to both local and international offers.

At a value of $ 5.7 million in total, according to the official notification, the tender covers the path renovations along a length of 55.6 km of the line in Inte Rios Province, divided into four sections:

  • Villaguay – Santa Clara (17.8KM), $ 770,137
  • LAS MOSCAS – DOMíNGUEZ (14KM), $ 1.8M
  • Domínguez – Villaguay (11.2KM), $ 1.45M, and
  • Jubilo – San Salvador (12.6 km), $ 1.6M.

The work will include replacement of railways and sleeping, the renewal of the morning, aligning the path, and promotions to the flat crossings.

In total, it is expected to be about 20 bids for separate work packages in the framework of the program, which aims to double the capacity of shipping in the corridor and enhance the railway connections across Argentina.

FOCEM’s participation reflects a regional priority for reinforcing cross -border trade with Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay, with support from investments in capabilities improvements and rehabilitation of strategic bonds, including Paso de Los Limis – Uruguayan Railways Bridge between Argentina and Brazil.
