Munich – Prague Press Services to improve

Germany and the Czech Republic have approved improvements to passenger services across the border between Munich and Berrag, including the purchase of new trains.

During a meeting in Prague, earlier this month, Czech Minister of Transport, Martin Copka, and Christian Bernreter, Minister of Transport in the southern German state of Bavaria, said that the new shares circulated will be deployed on the road across the border by 2031.

This will be achieved through a joint tender for the new trains issued by the Ministry of Transport and Czechs for the Bavarian Railways (Beg) that will be launched at the end of this year.

Bavaria and the Czech Republic were hoping to improve the cross -border service by 2028, but no compatible bids were received last year in a tender to operate the euro direct services between Munich and Berg.

Transport ministers believe they found a solution by relaxing various requirements, including providing employees on board, food and providing services, for future services to operate services on the R/RX36 road, which will lead to significant costs.

Currently, services between the two cities are operated jointly by Czech railways (čd) and the company of Trenitalia Die Länderbahn, under the Alex Brand brand, which has a Euro -euro position within the Czech Republic.

The contract for the Eurocity services between Prague and the German border will expire at the end of next year, while the services contract expires from the German border to Munich in 2028.

To bridge the gap until the new fleet is presented in 2031, the Czech Ministry of Transport is expected to manage a short -term tender for operations on the Czech part of the road, while beg will enter into discussions with Die Länderbahn along its current contract.

Both ministers agree that improvements to the 440 -km path are late. “The joint initiative with Bavaria is an important step to convert railways into the preferred choice of passengers on this important line,” says Copka.

“The direct relationship between Munich and Berg needs long -term improvements and heading towards passengers,” says Bernierter. “That is why we were working on a common approach.”

Infrastructure improvements

The important improvements in the Munich -Prague infrastructure were also planned. German infrastructure director DB Infrogage will upgrade the main lines and electricity in the upper Palaatinate, including from Regensburg to Schwandorf and the Czech border. In the Czech Republic, the separation line between Bilsen, Dofzles and Furt Im Wald, in Germany, will be upgraded to raise the maximum speed to 200 km/h, while doubled the partial path and electricity.

Nowadays, Prague services are operated under three different systems for public power supply, 3kv DC, 25kv AC in the Czech Republic and 15 kV 16.7 Hz in Germany. Diesel is required in the cross -border section between Regenesburg and Bilsen, with the opposite of trains in Xandorf.
