Volkerraail, Laing O’Rourke, Atkinsréalis and Siemens Mobility are to work with Network Rail on the program of improvements in and around Birmingham.
An alliance of four companies was determined to design and develop plans to support the construction phase of the Midlands Rail Hub project of 1.75 billion pounds in Central England.
The project aims to make improvements in the infrastructure and station that will enhance the network capacity in and around Birmingham, allowing 300 additional trains per day to work, and improve links with cities and regional cities.
The favorite alliance of Volkerraail, Laing O’Rourke, Atkinsréalis, Siemens Mobility and Infrastructure Manager Network Network Networks to develop Midlands Rail Hub with the advantages of early passengers that are expected to be achieved in the early thirties of the century Twenty.
The alliance selection is an essential step forward and follows the allocation of 123 million pounds in government financing in February, which supports the detailed design to improve infrastructure, and put the finishing touches on the operating plans for improved services.
Midlands Railway Center
In the middle of the project, there is the construction of two new ropes in Bordesley, east of the Birmingham city center, which will link the main line Chiltern, which ends in Birmingham Snow Hill, with Camp Hill lines, which is moving southwest and east Midlands.
- Wilds Wilds Wildst on Bordesley and Moor Street Street, allowing access to Birmingham Moore Street from South West and Wales, allowing additional trains towards Wrestster, Herveford, Bristol and Cardiff,
- East Chord will get access to Birmingham Moore Street from East Midlands, allowing direct access to trains from cities such as Leicester, Derby and Nottingham.
The project will also include improvements in the station, especially the redevelopment of the Norton kings, and reopening the platform 4 in Birmingham Snow Hill, as well as track promotions, additional traffic rings, and signal improvements.
“The Midlands Railways Center will be a transformation of economic growth, jobs and homes in the region,” says Lour Ward Peter Hindy.
