Three bidders for the Copenhagen metro operating contract

A new communication to operate the 43 km mechanism network begins in 2027.

Metroselskabet has three metro salads, a few auctions qualified to move forward in the tender for a 12 -year -old contract to operate a 43 -km cobinhagen metro network, which includes four lines serving a total of 44 stations.

As the trains without a driver operate in the corridors that lasted 1 minute 30 seconds in the peaks, the network bears about 400,000 passengers every day of the week. In 2024, a new record of passengers of 126 million passengers was appointed.

Pre -offers for the new operating contract:

  • KBH Metro Partner, which includes RATP Dev, SBS Trans Rail, Comfortdelgro Irish Citylink and Westbus Coach Services
  • Keolis Denmark, and
  • Metro service, which includes Milan Atm Operator Operator ATM.

It was chosen from what Metroselskabet describes as a strong field of applicants, the qualified three offers of the provider of providing “strong experience” to operate similar metro networks, according to the authority.

The ATM and Hitachi Rail project holds the current operating contract that expires on September 28, 2027. RATP Dev has a partnership with Comfortdelgro, and participation through SBS Transit in the local market in Singapore, as well as Westbus and Irishlink.

The three qualified offers will now be able to examine the Copenhagen network before presenting their initial offers. The tender is made on a negotiating basis, with offers providers to make final bids after negotiation.

Metroslskabet expects to sign the contract in September 2026, followed by the operations packing phase to start on September 29, 2027. The new contract will be run until 2039 with an option to extend for a period of three years.

“We are satisfied with the field of advanced rehabilitation and interest in the tender, through the previous dialogue in the market and the applications that we have received,” says Sän Boynen, Metroselskabet Operations and Maintenance Director.
