Industrial Revolution: 500,000+ robots installed in 2024

Statistics that were issued today on the factory automation show that 542,000 industrial robots were installed in 2024 – more than twice the number 10 years ago – to the International Robot Federation (IFR).

The last group report says that the annual establishments topped 500,000 units for the fourth year in a row. Asia formed 74 % of new publishing operations in 2024, compared to 16 % in Europe and 9 % in the Americas.

More specifically, China was the largest market in the world in 2024, which represents 54 % of global publishing operations. Local production increases, because for the first time, Chinese manufacturers sold more than foreign suppliers in their home country. Its share in the local market increased to 57 % in 2024, up from about 28 % over the past decade. China’s operating robot arrow exceeded 2 million units in 2024, which is the largest country. There is no indication that the demand for robots in China will decrease, with the possibility that Chinese manufacturing will spread by average averages every year until 2028.

In the rest of Asia, Japan maintained its location as the second largest industrial robot market, with 44,500 units in 2024-with a slight decrease of 4 %. The market in the Republic of Korea installed 30,600 units in 2024 – a decrease of 3 %, but it is still sufficient to make the country the fourth largest robot market in the world in terms of annual installations in 2024, after the United States, Japan and China. India continues to grow by 9100 units installed in 2024 – an increase of 7 %.

“Statistics of new global robots in 2024 are the second highest number of industrial robots in history-only 2 % less than the high two years ago.” “The transition of many industries to digital and automatic life was distinguished by a significant increase in demand. The total number of industrial robots in operational use around the world was 46,64,000 units in 2024 – an increase of 9 % compared to the previous year.”

Elsewhere, industrial robot facilities in Europe decreased by 8 % to 85,000 units in 2024, and the second largest registered number in history remains. Germany is the largest robot market in Europe and the fifth largest market in the world. Facilities decreased by 5 % to 26,982 units in 2024, the second best result recorded after 2023. The number of establishments in Italy decreased, the second largest European market, by 16 % to 8,783 units. Spain is now third (5100 units), and France (4,900 units) moved to fourth, with a decrease of 24 %, and in the United Kingdom, industrial robot facilities decreased by 35 % to 2,500 units in 2024.

In the Americas, robot facilities exceeded 50,000 units for the fourth year in a row, led by 68 % of the facilities for the region. In the Americas in 2024, the United States imported most of the 34200 robots from Japan and Europe, with a few local suppliers. However, there are many integrations of the local robot system who implement automated automated operating solutions. Near near, Mexico reached 5600 units in 2024, a 4 % decrease, and Canadian robot installation decreased by 12 % to 3800 units.

IFR is looking for, robotics industry is not immune to global total economic conditions, but there is no indication that the direction of comprehensive growth in the long term will end any time soon. While regional trends vary greatly, the total global path remains positive, as global robot facilities will grow by 6 % to 575,000 units in 2025, and exceed the mark of 700,000 units by 2028.
