The 63 Tango Nordic LRVS contract includes options for up to 120 additional vehicles.

The PKO STADLER has given a contract to supply 63 Tango Nordic LRVS.

As shown in the tender, the matter includes 30 mono -directional vehicles and 33 LRVS dual -direction. The contract also includes an option for 120 additional vehicles and a 30 -year maintenance agreement.

PKO says three manufacturers have been invited to submit bids to obtain the contract, but only two compatible bids were found. Stadler was chosen as a winner, advanced on the only other emotional, škoda group.

LRVS is designed in cooperation with Aivan, which is a pioneering studio for design and innovation in the north. Stadler adds that LRVS will be manufactured using sustainable materials, including zero steel and components with a recycled high content.

Under the maintenance agreement, Stadler will provide technical support, spare parts, create a local warehouse, and develop a logistical system for spare parts.

According to PKO, LRVS is needed for new light railways, such as Western tram and Vantaa tram projects, and the new fleet will enable the growth of light railway movement throughout the Helsinki urban area. They will replace Fleet Flame Helsinki, dating back to the 1970s.

This is the first LRV from Stadler from Finland. The value of the request has not been revealed and Stadler says it could not provide more details about the contract or the new fleet during the 14 -day legal preparation period. The estimated value of the deal was for 63 LRVS when the tender was launched in October 2023 1.6 billion euros.
