Container spot rates fall – but demand calm looms

Spot container freight rates saw another week of moderate decline on major east-west routes amid weak business activity due to the Golden Week holiday, but workers began returning to their jobs yesterday.
However, prices continued to fall, with the composite rate on the Drewry’s World Container Index (WCI) falling for the 17th consecutive week, a level not seen since January 2024.
