The third quarter Seafarer Happiness Index (SHI) provided a “stark reality check” and operators are being urged to prioritize crew wellbeing to boost performance and attract talent.
The average SHI score fell to 7.05 out of 10, a decline from the “encouraging” 7.54 for the second quarter.
“This significant decline points to deep-rooted challenges resurfacing across the maritime profession,” the report said. “The data paints a particularly alarming picture: almost every aspect of seafarers’ well-being has deteriorated.” …
