Spot container freight rates in major East-West trades continued their slight upward momentum for a second week, supported by a mid-month interest rate hike and tightening capacity from empty cruises.
According to Drury, the number of empty cruises in October rose to 93 across the Pacific, Asia, Europe and across the Atlantic, up from 58 in September, resulting in an overall capacity decline of 7%.
