The expansion of the Oakland port for the largest ships has been approved

The Port of Auckland has gained another character to agree to a “ponds recycling project”, which makes it the closest step than the expansion that will expand the internal and external floor ponds in the Oakland port, thus allowing large ships to wrap during the exchange of containers.

Specifically, this week, the Ports Commission Commissioners Council submitted the final environmental impact report (FEIR) and the approved progress of the project. After this approval, the project design stage must start later this year, with the expectation of construction in mid -2017.

The port said that work is required because ships that routinely reach Auckland continued to grow more, and in particular for a longer period. This leads to transit restrictions that lead to inefficiency that leads to delay, including beach energy delivery and negative economic effects.

“We are moving forward in a long -term project that maintains the port competitiveness of the port and allows the port to continue providing benefits to the local region and the nation,” said Christie McKini, Executive Director of Port Auckland in a statement. “We have listened to society in preparing FEIR to reduce the main effects, especially with regard to air quality as the port is committed to additional” higher “measures to ensure the protection of society with air quality effects to less important. We also use 100 % of electrical scraping and create useful reuse opportunities to restore New Wieland with materials generated from the project.”
