Idle ships are rare as MSC doubles in ship spree despite spare capacity

Carriers remain unfazed by looming structural overcapacity as MSC continues to grow and ship idling remains low.
Recent data from maritime intelligence firm Alphaliner showed that the idle container ship fleet was “virtually unchanged” over the past two weeks, despite the start of a lull and traditional year-end sinking rates for ocean shipping.
