Railway advances to the resigned Thai main line

The contract is part of the track doubling scheme implemented by the CH-AS joint venture.

The CH Thawee – AS Construction Joint Venture (CH-AS JV) has awarded a contract to Progress Rail to provide signaling and communications for the second phase of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Track Doubling Project covering the northern Khon Kaen – Nong Khai section of the 167 km Bangkok – Laos border main line.

Progress Rail will design, supply, install, test and commission signaling and telecommunications systems including a traffic management system, computer-based interlocking and ETCS Level 1 for both trackside and onboard applications.

“This represents our team’s first side project in Thailand, building on our ongoing Tier 1 initiatives on board ETCS,” says Hyung Kim, Executive Vice President, Infrastructure, Progress Rail. “To ensure optimal project execution and proximity to customers, we are strengthening our presence in Bangkok with dedicated resources focused on work management and execution.”

The CH-AS joint venture is the prime contractor for the project, which is part of SRT’s broader strategy to modernize and increase the capacity of its instrumentation network.
