Atkinsréalis and AECOM were set to design 7.3 km inside Hong Kong.
The Northern Railways Office of Metropolis and the Ministry of Highway in the Hong Kong Administrative Region Government (HKSAR) gave a joint project for the Atkinsréalis and AECOM project to provide investigation, design and multidisciplinary services for the Hong Kong – Shenzhen Western Western Rail project (HSWRL).
The value of the contract has not been revealed.
It was announced in 2021 and one of the main railway projects in the Northern Capital Development Strategy, and HSWRL will continue for a distance of 18.1 km from Hung Shui Kiu in Hong Kong to Qianhai in the Chinese mainland of China in Shenzhen, including 10.8 km inside the Shenthen, and it will prevent the time of a trip of only 15 minutes.
The consulting contract covers the 7.3 km section of HSWRL inside Hong Kong, extending from Hong Shui Qio north to the border with Shenzhen. New stations will be built in Hung Shui Kiu, Ha Tsuen and Lau Fau Shan.
The work that the leader of the joint project will include Atkinsréalis and his partner AECOM will also include consulting support to build a new warehouse on the 19ha site in Ha Tsuen, allowing work for potential development over the new railway, and providing future communications to the Hong Kong West – Hung Shui Kiu link.
“We are excited to contribute to this historical initiative that enhances Hong Kong’s vision to innovate transportation and integration across the border,” says Kelvin Cheng, Administrative Director of Transport and Water, at Atkinsryeles.
“This award reflects the global experience and the deep sector’s knowledge that our integrated team brings complex infrastructure projects,” says Ian Chung, CEO of Asia at AECOM.
