New trains are needed after the Czech PSO will win.
Regiojet unit temporarily stops at Usti Nad Labem.
The Czech Special Operator Regiojet requests 34 multiple units of the škoda collection. The value of the deal has not yet been revealed, but škoda will provide 18 cars and 16 groups of three cars, all of which will include a small diesel engine for the last miles and recharge the battery.
It follows the REGOJET victory for PSO contract for rapid train services between Prague and central and northern Bohemia. The 15 -year contract will start changing the schedule in December 2029 and has a total annual size of 4.5 million km.
The Czech Ministry of Transport was based on the price only. Regiojet has made the lowest offer of Koruna 1.74 billion ($ 83 million), including commitment to new shared shares. Due to the lack of an appeal from three other bidders – the current Arriva, as well as the Czech railway (čD) and Leo Express – the final contract was announced.
The contract covers fast trains services in the following ways:
- Line 14A: LibreC – Pardubice
- Line 14B: LIBEREC – DěčíN – ústí Nad Labem
- Line 21: Prague – Tanfald
- Line 22: Colin – Rumburk, and
- Line 24: Prague – Rumbork
Arriva currently runs all these services regardless of line 24, which is new. They include lines either fully electrified or partial and currently operated with 845 DMAS 845 degree and 642 Desiro.
An exclusive feature is included in Regiojet plans for future growth in the IRJ version in September.
